    Make your blog stand out

    By | February 17, 2008

Since podcasts have increasingly become very easy to create a lot of people are taking to it and the result isn’t always good. There are a million podcasts on the internet today are the variation in quality is remarkable.

One very important factor in a podcast obviously is sound quality. Most people think that it is the content that matters but the honest truth is that sound quality is equally important. No listener is patient enough to stay put and listen to your podcast when it has poor sound quality. Filter out noises or use software that allows you to edit out audio parts. It is also better to use a fixed microphone if you’re doing the recording in one place rather than constantly moving around.

Use a catchy name and catchy slogan for your podcasts. Remember that the public attention span is very short and unless you have something that really catches their attention, no one is going to be listening. Find a name and slogan which reflects the nature and theme of the show.

The most important thing is to be unique. There are millions of podcasts on the internet today and your show needs to have a unique and different perspective if it needs to stand out in the crowd.

Another thing is to identify your listeners and cater to them. You should know your target audience well and prepare and present your show so as to appeal to them.

The length of the podcast is also very important. Avoid creating a podcast that is too long. Do not ramble unnecessarily because all listeners have a limited amount of time.

Like everything on the net, a podcast also needs to be regular. Fix a schedule so that you have a new episode up at regular intervals. If they are few and far between, your audience will not be too pleased.
