I am saddened by the strong, unbending stands that I have taken in times past. There are so many doctrines, belief, and when you get down to it, just PERSONAL OPINIONS that I embraced to such a degree that I chose my friendships based on "shared opinions". Last night an individual said that they'd moved from "compromise" to "cooperation". In other words, two people don't have to agree or form a middle ground compromise to journey together. We can fellowship even with divergent opinions! Imagine that!
The real glue that bonds and holds people together is a Christ Consciousness- LOVE!
Walter Lanyon wrote it this way, "The wisdom of man is nothing but an accumulation of human opinions and beliefs, that will pass away. In a few years man will laugh at what he believes today and weill say he has outgrown his childish beliefs." I am exhibit # 1. You do or don't believe in hell, or you do or don't believe in the immaculate conception, virgin birth, annunciation doesn't matter to me. And what's crazy is that most people can't tell you the difference in any one of those last three Catholic concepts while many think they're the same.
Who cares?
Can we work together, love one another, join together in some common goals, and form a diverse community with the Kingdom as the main purpose? Somehow we KNOW that we being more like Father-Consciousness whenw e do that than when we take doctrinal stands and war with groups that have different opinions than we do.
Religion has caused so much hell- and still does!
I am grateful to be a part of a community of people who listen, ponder, and seek God for answers while being under no pressure to change their views, not feel compelled to change mine. How refreshing, how liberating, how GOD!
